Smack down beneath the tall pine trees in beautiful East Texas sits a little red bunkhouse.  This is the perfect place to reminisce of days gone by.  Long gone are the days when life was much simpler.  We promise you will create memories you will not soon forget.

A couple’s romantic get-a-way, family reunion, church retreat, motorcycle rally, etc., this is the place you have been looking for.  Take a ride on the historic steam rail-road, visit the winery next door, the antique shops in old historic Palestine or just enjoy a beautiful sunrise and sunset.  See more stars than you have ever seen in the busy city.

The bunkhouse is newly renovated and is equipped with a full kitchen and laundry room.  There are 2 private bedrooms and a full bath.  The bunkhouse sleeps 12 adults comfortably and also has lots of space for sleeping bags and enough property to pitch as many tents as you want.  The side deck has a grill and enough space for a musical band with dancing.

History

Brothers Bobby and Billy Bailey built the bunkhouse in the early 1970’s for their family to have an escape from the busy city.  Using only materials they could scrap together, the atmosphere is majestic and almost like taking a tour in a museum of yesterday.

Family and friends love to talk about how the Bunkhouse was constructed.  All of the woodwork is from shipping crates made of lumber.  The crates were taken apart for wood and even the nails were straightened one by one.  The bricks that make up the front porch and fire place came from Greenville Avenue in DallasTexas.  Sixteen telephone poles serve as the main support for the thirty by thirty foot bunkhouse.

Stay here while touring beautiful East Texas.  Our family has a long history of bike riding and we enjoy letting our hogs have an overnight pit stop at the Bailey Bunkhouse.  Plan a motorcycle trip through East Texas with your friends, family, and local hog members.  Stop at the bunkhouse to rest up overnight, have a couple of frosty beverages, and BBQ something for dinner out on the new deck.

Sweet dreams winery:  Plan a romantic weekend at the Bailey Bunkhouse and enjoy “Sweet Dreams Winery” only 2.2 miles down the road.  They offer wine tasting every Saturday from 11am to 8pm.  (sweetdreamswinery.com)
